ADVENT BY CANDLELIGHT: A WOMEN’S NIGHT OF REFLECTIONS ON ADVENT

All women are invited to come prepare their hearts for the Advent season featuring a reflection by Seminarian Deacon John Vinton, a musical presentation, prayer, food and fellowship.

Women are invited to Men-on-Fire this month!

Men-on-Fire has a monthly men’s night, but three times a year women are invited and Thursday NOVEMBER 21st is one of those.

Our Speaker is Fr. Patrick Brennan, CP, Director of the St. Paul of the Cross Passionist Retreat Center, Detroit.

He will give a talk titled: Encountering Christ In a Culture of Encounter.

This is also a great opportunity to get an idea of what the preaching and direction is like at the St. Paul of the Cross Retreat Center (Men-on-Fire began after a St. Paul of the Cross Retreat).

The Livingston Vicariate Catholic Men’s movement, Men-on-Fire, gathers monthly to bring men together for spiritual and practical strengthening and nourishment in their spiritual journey to be faithful disciples of Christ. Our speaker this month is CRAIG POHL: “Who Do You Think You Are?!” Craig is the Diocese of Lansing Director of New Evangelization and a dynamic speaker. FREE MUSIC CONCERT

To Benefit St. Vincent dePaul

Holy Spirit Music Director, Leo Lemery and guest pianist, Marisa Bruzewski, will be performing works of Franz Liszt (a dedicated Catholic Christian)  for piano, organ and trumpet, along with other pieces for piano, organ and trumpet. Followed by hors d’oeuvres and other refreshments in the Activity Center. Free-will donations to benefit the Society of St Vincent de Paul–Holy Spirit Conference.

40th ANNIVERSARY COMMUNITY PICNIC

We will be kicking off Bishop Robert Barron’s series ‘The Pivotal Players’ – a multi-part film series that illumines a handful of saints, artists, mystics and scholars who not only shaped the life of the Church but changed the course of civilization. Julie Carrick returns to Holy Spirit Parish for a stop on her Summer of Inspiration Tour to present “Sipping on Grace”, an evening event of spoken word and music that will focus on the Grace in our faith and how we take it out into the world. APOLOGETICS CLASSES

Do you have family members who have left the Catholic Church?  Do you find yourself not knowing what to say to them in answer to their questions regarding doctrines of the Church? Apologetics is not saying you’re sorry, it is an explanation. Join class leader Mike Kokitka for basic training and prepare yourself to defend your faith. OUR LADY OF FATIMA

After the 8:00am Morning Mass, we will have Adoration in the Church, including reciting the Rosary and a prayer to Our Lady of Fatima each hour on the hour all day until 5:00pm.

At 6:00pm, we will be viewingThe 13th Day, based on the memoirs of the oldest Seer, Lucia Santos, and many thousands of independent eye-witness accounts, The 13th Day dramatizes the TRUE story of three young shepherds who experienced six interactive apparitions with a “Lady from Heaven” between May and October 1917, which culminated into the final prophesized Miracle.

The Statue of Our Lady of Fatima will remain at Holy Spirit until October, in an alcove in the Baptistery. Come and visit her as often as you can, for she has many graces to give us. The statue comes from Fatima, Portugal.

MASS OF REPARATION

Come together each month on the 3rd Tuesday as a body to pray on behalf of our church, our community, and our world for all the ways we have offended God. To do this is actually to be in Imitation of Christ who said from the cross, “Father, forgive them. They know not what they do.”
